Week 5 History of Sisters of ND

Although I did not attend any activities on Foundresses Week, I was able to learn about the history of the Sister's of Notre Dame. I learned of Francoise and Julie, the Foundresses. I also learned of the journey from Namur to Oregon in the mid 1800s and their eventual expansion to states including California. The Sisters of Notre Dame transformed their two small schools into a successful educational entity with locations all around the world. That is today's reflection on the Sisters' missions statement: "through a Gospel way of life, community and prayer," the Sisters today continue that mission of proclaiming God’s goodness and educating for life as did their founders, Julie and Françoise; as the Congregation has 1600 members across 16 countries in the world.
